In the spotlight: Ferry service Amsterdam & Almere, enjoyment on board!

In the run-up to the Dutch Water Week, we put a number of stakeholders in the spotlight. Rederij Navigo – better known to the public as the Veerdienst Amsterdam & Almere – is also making an important contribution to the Dutch Water Week, says Kris Silvius.

What is the role of the Veerdienst Amsterdam & Almere in the Dutch Water Week?
“During the Dutch Water Week – from Thursday 26 May to Sunday 29 May and from Saturday 4 June to Monday 6 June – the Veerdienst Amsterdam & Almere of Rederij Navigo provides a direct connection from Amsterdam IJburg and Almere Muiderzand to Pampus, passing the competition sailing area of the Open Dutch Championships and the Hempel World Cup part of the Allianz Regatta. On some days we have three departures, each with a program of four to four and a half hours, of which you spend 2.5 hours on Pampus. So there you have plenty of time to enjoy the special activities during Proef Pampus and the sailing races on the IJmeer.”

What does the Dutch Water Week mean for Veerdienst Amsterdam & Almere?
“The Dutch Water Week is a great new water sport event in the sailing area of the Veerdienst Amsterdam & Almere and Rederij Navigo and we are happy to contribute to it. We see the event as a great opportunity for Amsterdam, Almere and Lelystad to profile themselves more as water sports locations.”

Why are Dutch Water Week and Veerdienst Amsterdam & Almere a good match?
“As a shipping company, we are delighted with the arrival of the Dutch Water Week to Almere and Lelystad. The event stimulates water sports and the popularity of our sailing area in a positive way. Because Proef Pampus takes place in the same period, it is the perfect time for a broad target group to visit Almere and Pampus. With our Veerdienst Amsterdam & Almere we provide a good sailing connection between both events, so you can visit both in one day.”

What do we not yet know about Veerdienst Amsterdam & Almere but should we?
“Veerdienst Amsterdam & Almere is operated by Rederij Navigo. We sail with historic ships in the waters around Amsterdam and sometimes further afield. During the Dutch Water Week, you also have the opportunity to hire a private ship to view the demonstrations and competitions from the water. Our ships can be arranged flexibly and are equipped with a bar, making them ideal for drinks, dinner or dancing on board.”

Do you have any tips for visitors and what are you yourself really looking forward to?
“Of course, our service does not stop with the Dutch Water Week. Also before and after it is possible to visit the fortress island Pampus or Muiderslot from Amsterdam and Almere Muiderzand. Ferry service Amsterdam & Almere, for example, has sailings from Amsterdam IJburg and Almere Muiderzand through Sunday, October 23.”
